What to Wear: Christmas & Summer Outfit Ideas

To honour the land that inspired our new Australian Flora Range, we’ve matched our latest range to some gorgeous garments made by Indigenous labels. Treat yourself or someone else to the whole shebang while supporting First Nations folk.

In keeping with this time of year we’ve made our matches with an eye to what you may want to wear Christmas Day or to one of Santa’s associated parties, but the outfits will work beautifully throughout the summer months as well.

Please note: We have, where indicated by the label, used garments allocated Ally Friendly wear only, rather than garments made specifically only for First Nations people. Also note that Simone Walsh is an ally herself and not a First Nations person.

Joomoo Tree Dress + Golden Wattle Jewellery

You’ll scrub up nice in our new, shiny Wattle Blossom Gold Pendant and matching gold stud earrings with Magpie Goose’s sleeveless, A-line dress Joomoo Tree Midi-Dress. As a species the wattle has been part of the Australian landscape for 35 million years, with the golden wattle featuring on both our Coat of Arms and as our official national flower. Like you, it’s a pretty big deal.

All elements of our stylised wattle blossom pendant are made with 14ct solid gold, including the delicate chain. We reckon this piece and its matching earrings will beautifully complement Rowena Mouda’s gorgeous Joomoo Tree pink print on wine tencel/linen.

Rowena is a descendent of the Oomeday and Yowjabi (Mother’s father), and Nyikina and Bardi (mother’s mother) tribes of the West Kimberley region.

Gammin Threads Tee + Bold Flora Pendant

Gammin Threads tees with Australian flora pendant necklace in sterling silver

Keep it casual while making a statement in Gammin Threads’ ‘Big Aunty Energy’ tee  (or the ‘If I’m Too Much’ tee) matched with a shiny new Australian Flora Pendant Necklace.

The dish pendant is a perfect statement piece that will bring a casual outfit to life.

It also dresses up beautifully when paired with our simple Silver Ball Stud Earrings and range of silver rings.

The blackened pendant features a selection of native flora, including the banksia and boronia. The boronia is an apt flower for family gatherings as it’s thought to promote calming, repetitive thoughts and an amiable end to relationships, even if it’s just a ‘See ya later’.

Blakmas PJs + Eucalyptus Jewellery

Blakmas PJs and eucalyptus flower and leaf jewellery in sterling silver

We’re all for spending a long, leisurely Christmas Day at home with just the pets or/and kids. Make everyone embrace the seasonal spirit with a family portrait by the tree in adorbs matching, limited edition Blakmas PJs by Clothing the Gaps. Add a bit of sparkle to your snaps with our Eucalyptus Leaves Chrysoprase Cluster Necklace.

The necklace features two silver eucalyptus leaf designs accompanied by a cluster of facetted chrysoprase beads in shades of minty green. The chrysoprase is said to symbolise happiness, instilling the wearer with the grace and mental dexterity you’ll need to get through the day.

If you’d rather go for earrings, then our Eucalyptus Flower Dangle Earrings will work a treat. They’re made in sparkly sterling silver that will add some joy to any casual outfit.

Ngayirr Mini Dress + Flora Sunstone Pendant

If you’re going a bit fancy but don’t want to feel constrained, stay relaxed but elegant in Lillardia Briggs-Houston’s Ngayirr Relaxed Shoulder Tie Mini Dress. Add a fiery sunset to your ensemble via our Flora Sunstone Pendant Necklace, making you a living embodiment of our unique landscape.

The dish-shaped pendant features finely engraved flora, with the fiery sunstone set near the middle. The sunstone is a stone of leadership, and is said to encourage the wearer to benevolently bestow blessings (see: pavlova) on others, even those who maybe should have received a lump of coal.

Also check out the matching Sunstone Silver Stud Earrings to help you look perfectly put together.

Whichever Simone Walsh Jewellery piece you choose, either for yourself or that special someone, we hope you also enjoy exploring and supporting these magnificently talented Indigenous labels/artists. Not just now, but into the new year, the rest of summer and well beyond.
