Staying on top of fashion trends can be challenging, especially when they seem to come in and out so rapidly. The same goes for jewellery. As always, this year there are a lot of new jewellery trends, so we’re here to give you the lowdown on how to make the most of our favourites.

This guide will cover what you need to know about the latest jewellery fashion trends we love and it will give you the lowdown on some great tips about how to add the finishing touches to any outfit.

Ready to learn more? Let’s get started …

1. Beautiful pearls

If you’re obsessed with the latest flow of TV period dramas, we can’t blame you. One of the highlights is the wardrobe. The characters are often dripping with luxury, emphasised by lace and gold. The star of the show, however, are the pearls. They’re either adorned as a chic choker or are layered dramatically: the ultimate sign of elegance and taste.

Although you might not be going for quite the same look, there’s something to say about introducing beautiful real pearls to your wardrobe, whether in the form of necklaces, earrings, bracelets or rings.

Pearls can elevate any simple outfit to the next level, adding a sense of elegance, which really doesn’t need to be old fashioned or stuffy. We love jewellery that combines the old world elegance of pearls with much more contemporary design elements, such as our striking sea urchin and pearl earrings.

Pearl jewellery is one of our favourite jewellery trends for 2021, basically because we’ve always loved pearls! Visit out our full range of pearl jewellery.

2. Layered necklaces

Pearl jewellery might not be suitable for everyone, and that’s okay because there is no beating the trend of stacked or layered chains.

You could go for all gold necklaces that are delicate, small and easy to stack with other similar pieces.

Alternatively pick a bolder pendant necklace or chain necklace and mix and match it with more subtle necklaces of different lengths, with the aim of drawing the eye up to your face.

Take a look at our collection of layering necklaces to see our suggestions as a starting point. Then get creative!

3. Statement pendant necklaces

Are you not quite looking to embrace pearl jewellery or layered necklaces? Have a think about whether some new statement pendant necklaces are the bold look you’d like to go for.

Statement necklaces can be big and bold, or smaller but intriguing and eye-catching. They can really bring a boring outfit to life with a single accessory, perhaps accompanied by some complimentary smaller and more subtle pieces (think simple silver rings or a pair of small gold stud earrings).

Statement pendant necklaces come in a variety of styles and colours: not just silver and gold, but gemstones as well. Take a look at our amazing mehndi mandala necklace on rhodolite beads as an example. Or the striking sterling silver coral reef open locket on a simple chain.

4. Ornate hoop earrings

Hoop earrings have been around forever … well, almost. According to Refinery 29 the oldest hoop earrings found to date were worn by a Sumerian woman around 4,500 years ago.

So they are a truly timeless trend. Hoop earrings are universally flattering and go with almost everything. A great example are our super simple endless silver hoop earrings, which are an essential wardrobe basic in anyone’s jewellery collection.

But if you’re ready to take it up a notch, then consider wearing more ornate hoop earrings. There are plenty of options in our hoop earrings collection, including simple but colourful beaded hoops or hoops with a flower or star attached to them which will swing and sparkle as you move.

To really make the most of the the ornate hoop earrings trend, take a look at our amazing cut our coral pattern hoop earrings in sterling silver. They’ll make a very eye-catching addition to your jewellery collection and you’re sure to get a lot of praise for them.

5. Colourful beads

As the world starts to (hopefully) move on from the Pandemic Times, we’re seeing a return to lots of colourful beads in jewellery, especially with a beachy feel to them as people start thinking about holidays and more laid back times ahead.

There are plenty of glass bead jewellery designs out in the world, but we generally prefer to stick to gemstone and pearl beads to add plenty of variety, beauty and quality to our designs.

Our newest jewellery range is inspired by the seaside and there are lots of colourful gemstone beads, along with both white and peach coloured pearls. You’ll also find yellow citrines, red agate, blue-ish green amazonite, vivid blue sodalite and more.

See the seaside jewellery range for inspiration, along with our beaded necklaces.

6. Mismatched Earrings

Another trend that that we love is wearing mismatched earrings. This is a great way to show off your unique sense of style, but it’s entirely up to you how bold and noticeably mismatched you want to be.

As a starting point, find earrings that are somewhat similar, whether in colour, size or style. Our bouquet range, amulets range and our ocean textures are a great place to start as the various types of earrings are the same sizes and colours, but with different designs. They’re ideal for mixing and mismatching.

Also take a look at our beautiful bouquet dangle earrings, which come already mismatched as each flower on each earring is different.

7. Tiny stud earrings

This trend goes perfectly with some of the others in the list. Tiny stud earrings will play beautifully with other jewellery: statement pendants, stacking rings and more. They’re also ideal for everyday wear, so make an essential wardrobe basic.

You can choose simple small silver or gold stud earrings, such as our little solid gold ball stud earrings.

Alternatively add a tiny pop of colour with some gemstone stud earrings, including those from our birthstone earrings collection, in which the gemstones are all 3mm in diameter (not so tiny that they won’t be seen, but tiny enough!).

Take a peek at our stud earrings for some inspiration.

8. Cluster necklaces

Cluster necklaces feature multiple pendants or clusters of gemstones on a single chain necklace. Usually the different elements move freely on the chain, so they’ll move and sit in different positions as you go about your day.

Adding a cluster necklace to your outfit will add a unique point of interest, without necessarily being too big, bold or colourful. You can choose necklace elements that have special meaning for you or just that you like the design of.

We have several cluster necklace designs available – and we love them all. Check out our very popular chrysanthemum, leaf & tourmaline gems cluster necklace, which makes a special gift for mums. Also see one of our favourites, the stars & sapphires cluster necklace, which is also full of meaning. The spiral shell and yellow sapphires cluster necklace is a single pendant variation with a cluster of tiny yellow and pink sapphire beads.

9. Stacking rings

Stacking rings are an essential wardrobe must-have. They’ll play perfectly with other jewellery and create details that will always make you feel well put together. Best of all you can build up a collection of stacking rings that you can wear in endlessly different combinations depending on your mood and outfit.

The secret to finding your own style is to pay attention to those small details that reflect your personality. Anyone can buy the same shirt from a popular store, but it’s how you make it yours that matters. Adding small but eye-catching details like different stacked rings or layered necklaces (see above) will most definitely help.

We have an array of stacking rings in both sterling silver and solid gold, many of which also feature gemstones (including our full suite of gold birthstone rings). They’re a dream for mixing and matching to your heart’s content.

10. Beaded bracelets

Relating to the colourful beads and pearl jewellery mention above, but easy to overlook are beaded bracelets.

They can be made of pearls, gemstones or glass beads and will add a splash of colour and interest to any outfit. You can also mix, match and stack them, either with other beaded bracelets or more simple silver or gold bracelets or bangles. Do some experimenting and see what works for you.

We have an array of gemstone beaded bracelets in our new range, including a pearl bracelet. They each feature one of our ocean texture pendants to add some sparkle and interest.

We string our beaded bracelets on strong but flexible beading cable secured with sturdy silver clasps, so they’ll wear much better than many of the beaded bracelets on elastic thread that you’ll see elsewhere.

Jewellery in Australia

Most Australians prefer to shop locally and there’s also a lot of love for shopping small right now. There are good reason why. Not only are you helping support the community and small businesses, but you can find unique items that big brands simply don’t have, along with personalised customer service that they just can’t provide.

This is particularly true when it comes to Jewellery in Australia. You’ll find that independent Australian jewellery designers have the most unique selection, top customer service and quality jewellery. Nothing like helping the economy and looking great while you do it.
